Planet Earth Dec 27
It is quite possibly the best documentary out there right now. The footage is phenomenal. It took the producers five years film the 11 different documentaries. I personally like the caves, shallow seas, and seasonal forests.
The Discovery Channel is now airing the series again. If you decide to watch it, do yourself a favor. Stop. Go to Netflix or Costco and pick it up. The discovery channel version uses Sigourny Weaver to narrate. Stab five pencils in each of my ears please. That’s more pleasurable than hearing her narrate these series. She did great in Wall-E as the computer voice, but for Planet Earth? Pfft, no way.
The real way to enjoy this series is to hear it through the best documentary narrator of all time, David Attenborough. Not only is he awesome, he’s a writer for the series! Straight to the source. I hate the fact that The Discovery Channel lames it up by replacing Attenborough.
Again, if you do watch this documentary (which everyone should), then make sure it’s Attenborough is the narrator. Even if you don’t like documentaries, then this is a great series to get drunk off of. Every time Attenborough describes animals/bodies of land/birds/water as the biggest or the smallest in the world, take a shot. I can guarantee that you’ll be done for before the the second show airs.
